Sentro Rizal Vientiane, led by Ambassador Deena Joy Amatong, welcomed 16 students and three teachers from the Lao Japan School on 18 February 2025 for a study tour.

During their visit, the students learned more about Philippine culture and arts through a story-telling activity, a short film-viewing and a demonstration of Filipino games.

The program began with an introduction to the Philippines’ celebration of the National Arts Month every February to honor Filipino artists and culture icons and workers. Then, Filipino teacher, Ms. Diadem Mondal, read to the students a Filipino children’s book entitled “𝑨 π‘»π’‰π’Šπ’“π’”π’•π’š π‘Ίπ’‘π’‚π’“π’“π’π’˜” authored by Mr. Virgilio S. Almario, a National Artist of the Philippines. The students also learned about various Philippine traditional games, including π’”π’Šπ’‘π’‚, which they tried playing.

The students and teachers were then treated to Filipino snacks, 𝒉𝒂𝒍𝒐-𝒉𝒂𝒍𝒐 and cheese 𝒑𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒔𝒂𝒍.

This activity forms part of the Embassy’s celebration of National Arts Month. The study tour also marks the inaugural event at the new Sentro Rizal site of the Embassy of the Philippines in the Lao PDR.
