H.E. Deena Joy Amatong called on H.E. Linkham Douangsavanh, Lao PDR Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, on 23 January 2025 and discussed matters related to cooperation on agriculture and forestry between the Philippines and the Lao PDR.

During the meeting, both officials expressed their commitment to further enhance collaboration between the Philippines and the Lao PDR on agriculture and forestry. Ambassador Amatong highlighted that this year presents an opportune time to work hand-in-hand to achieve greater cooperation as both countries celebrate 70 years of diplomatic relations.

Both officials also discussed other matters including efforts to protect the countries’ forests and wildlife, as well as to preserve biodiversity; and the scholarship offering of the Philippines to foreign nationals, including Lao nationals, a tangible product of the seven decades long relations of the two countries - people-to-people exchanges.
