Six Filipino film-makers, Mark Raywin Tome, Kaj Palanca, David Corpuz, Kristine Camille del Pilar Sulit, Kelvin Ting, and Bridget Ting, took part in the Blue Chair Film Festival (BCFF) 2024 held on 05-09 December 2024 in Luang Prabang, Lao PDR. This year’s Festival included a Philippine Day dedicated to screen all ten (10) Filipino films which were part of the official selection of the BCFF: Gitling, The Gospel of the Beast, When This is All Over, Cross My Heart and Hope to Die, Even Ashes, Nothing Remains, Extra Festive, Luzonensis Osteoporosis, Primetime Mother, Read-Only Memory, and Shortest Day, Longest Night.
The Philippine Embassy attended the opening ceremony of the Festival and an official launch, and organized a small meet and greet with the film-makers and some members of the Filipino community in Luang Prabang. It was an opportunity for the group to talk about Filipino culture, share experiences and highlight Filipino creativity and artistry.
Established in 2009, the Blue Chair Film Festival is an annual festival which features films from Southeast Asian countries. It aims to connect regional filmmakers while at the same time supporting the Lao domestic film industry. Aside from the free screening of films in the town of Luang Prabang, the festival also operates talent development workshops.
