Philippine textiles including piña and other regional weaves are showcased by HABI: The Philippine Textile Council at the Lao Handicraft Festival 2024 which started on 26 October and will run until 03 November 2024 at the Lao ITECC in Vientiane. The Embassy also displayed some textiles from its Sentro Rizal collection like T’nalak, Yakan, Inabel, Solito and Inaul, among others.

The opening ceremony was attended by Lao Deputy Prime Minister Kikeo Khaykhamphithoun, Madame Naly Sisoulith, spouse of President Thongloun Sisoulith, Vice Minister of Industry and Commerce Manothong Vongsay, officials of the Lao Handicraft Association and organizers of the Lao Handicraft Festival 2024, families and senior members of the Party and government leaders, ambassadors and representatives of international organizations, and members of the business community. HABI was mentioned as one of the exhibitors of the Festival which serves as a platform for learning, education and appreciation of handicrafts and, thus, helps in job creation and national development.

HABI: The Philippine Textile Council is a non-governmental organization which aims “to preserve, promote, and enhance Philippine textiles through education, communication, and research using public and private resources.”
