Philippine Department of Education, led by Undersecretary Gina O. Gonong, participated in the ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Ensuring Equal Access to Quality Early Childhood Development and Care held on 15 May 2024 at the Landmark Mekong Riverside Hotel.

With the theme “Building Climate Resilience from the Start: Early Childhood Education for Sustainable Future”, participants discussed ways to attain Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) related to education; and were given the opportunity to present their vision for their respective countries and for the ASEAN region.

Prior to the Ministerial Meeting, the Southeast Asia Regional Forum on Ensuring Equal Access to Quality Early Childhood Care and Education was convened. Forum participants exchanged views on the increasing impact of climate change on pre-school children.
