On 10 April 2024, Philippine Ambassador Deena Joy Amatong joined other women Ambassadors and diplomats in a pottery and newspaper handicraft workshop which was arranged by the Royal Thai Embassy in the Lao PDR, in support of various causes of the Lao Disabled Women’s Development Center (LDWDC).

The LDWDC, led by Director Madame Chanhpheng Sivila, was established in 1990 and advocates for the rights, recognition, and equal opportunities for women with disabilities. The Center partners with the Lao government, embassies, international organizations, and NGOs to achieve its goal of providing vocational and life skills training for women.

Last month, Ambassador Amatong convened a meeting among women Ambassadors in the Lao PDR to discuss how the international community can contribute to support, protect, and empower Lao women.
