The Philippine Embassy, led by Philippine Ambassador Deena Joy Amatong, attended the Opening Ceremony of the ASEAN Youth Economic Forum (AYEF) 2024 held at Crowne Plaza in Vientiane on 4 April 2024. The Philippines was represented by four youth delegates who will contribute to discussions and identify ways to promote sustainable agriculture and food security in ASEAN.

The ASEAN Youth Economic Forum (AYEF) aims to provide young leaders of ASEAN and Japan with the opportunity to directly engage, collaborate, and work towards fostering closer ties. With the overall theme “Fostering Food Security and Economic Development Through the ASEAN-Japan Collaboration”, this year’s AYEF wishes to highlight the youth's potential by boosting their knowledge about food security and equipping them to help address the gaps in the food value chain.

AYEF 2024 is a collaborative initiative organized by the ASEAN Youth Organization in partnership with the AEM-METI Economic and Industrial Cooperation Committee (AMEICC) and the Mekong Institute. The two-day program will discuss topics related to food security including financing, sustainable agriculture, and the use of technology and innovation in farming.
