Department of National Defense (DND) Undersecretary Irineo C. Espino led the Philippine delegation to the ASEAN Defense Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM) Retreat held from 04 to 06 March 2024 in Luang Prabang.

Chaired by the Lao PDR Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence General Chansamone Chanyalath, the Meeting discussed priority matters including regional peace, security, and stability, with a focus on maintaining the unity and solidarity of ASEAN. The Meeting also agreed to strengthen defense and military cooperation through the existing ADMM and ADMM-Plus mechanisms to enhance capacity, resilience, and interoperability among member countries, in view of fully implementing the ASEAN Political-Security Community Blueprint 2025.
