On 07 November 2023, Philippine Ambassador to the Lao PDR H.E. Deena Joy Amatong and newly-appointed Lao Women’s Union President Mme. Aly Vongnobountham discussed the possibility of cooperation in the field of gender equality and women empowerment between the Philippines and the Lao PDR. Other matters discussed include the upcoming ASEAN Commission on the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Women and Children (ACWC), which the Lao PDR will host in 2024.

The Lao Women’s Union is a women’s rights organization that was established on 20 July 1955 to promote the role of women under the Lao PDR’s National Constitution.
In the 2023 Gender Gap Index, the Philippines remains the highest-ranked Asian country and ASEAN Member State at 16th place, while the Lao PDR remains to be the highest-ranked Asian country in the Subindex of Economic Participation and Opportunity.

ສະຫະພັນແມ່ຍິງລາວ ເປັນອົງການສິດທິແມ່ຍິງ ທີ່ໄດ້ສ້າງຕັ້ງຂຶ້ນໃນວັນທີ 20 ກໍລະກົດ 1955 ເພື່ອສົ່ງເສີມບົດບາດຂອງແມ່ຍິງພາຍໃຕ້ລັດຖະທຳມະນູນແຫ່ງຊາດຂອງ ສປປ ລາວ.

ໃນປີ 2023 ດັດຊະນີຄວາມແຕກຕ່າງລະຫວ່າງເພດ, ຟີລິບປິນ ຍັງຄົງເປັນລຳດັບທີ 16 ໃນປະເທດຂົງເຂດອາຊີ ແລະ ໃນບັນດາສະມາຊິກອາຊຽນ, ໃນຂະນະທີ່ ສປປ ລາວ ຍັງຄົງເປັນປະເທດໃນອາຊີອັນທີ່ເປັນລຳດັບສູງສຸດໃນດັດຊະນີຍ່ອຍໃນການມີສ່ວນຮ່ວມ ແລະ ໂອກາດທາງດ້ານເສດຖະກິດ.
