The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) was established on 8 August 1967 in Bangkok, Thailand. This took place after the signing of the ASEAN Declaration by five Foreign Ministers, including then Philippine Secretary of Foreign Affairs Narciso R. Ramos. Other Founding Members of ASEAN include Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand.
