The Philippine Embassy in Vientiane supported the participation of Filipino designers in the 5th Lao Fashion Week 2018 held on 10-14 September 2018 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, in Vientiane. The event included nightly fashion shows showcasing special collections from 50 local and international designers, as well as workshops on various subjects related to fashion and design. The event aimed to further develop the fashion industry of Laos, highlight the talents of local and regional designers, and create awareness and opportunities for close collaboration between Lao and ASEAN fashion communities.
During the opening night of the fashion week on September 11, Reynier Abello, a Phnom Penh-based Filipino designer who owns the Armada clothing line, and the tandem of Christian Edward Dalogaog-Marjo Cruz of CHED Studio, presented their respective collections. On 12 September 2018, Julius Tarog, owner of the JT clothing line which incorporates Inabel fabrics from Abra province, and Renan Pacson, MEGA Young Designer 2012 winner and head of Creative Directors of the Arin fashion brand, showcased their companies’ respective clothing lines. Phnom Penh-based Filipino designer Don Protasio, Manila-based Bryan Peralta, and Renan Pacson presented their respective collections on September 13. On the last day of the event, Albert Andrada’s Luxewear collection was presented by Josh Santos, while Kristine Ordinario, 2018 Designer of the Year Awardee of the Fashion Institute of the Philippines (FIP) presented her Gladiatrix collection.
Philippine Ambassador to Laos Belinda Ante thanked the Filipino designers for promoting Philippine culture through their collections in the Laos Fashion Week 2018 by incorporating Philippine designs in some of their clothing lines. END.
