The Philippine Embassy in the Lao PDR joins the Filipino nation in commemorating the National Indigenous Peoples (IP) Month. Pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 1906, the month of October is declared as the National Indigenous Peoples (IP) Month in recognition and protection of the rights of Indigenous Cultural Communities (ICCs).
This year, the theme "Katutubong Filipino: Pagtibayin ang Tagumpay 2030 (Indigenous Filipinos: Strengthening the Success by 2030)" highlights how both the creativity of the IP and the richness of nature sustain and strengthen intangible cultural heritage (ICH). The celebration will gather approximately 270 representatives from the IP and cultural communities in various activities, including forums, fairs, demonstrations, and performances promoting the visibility of Philippine ICH, particularly its linkages with nature and the creativity of the IPs.
