14 August 2021, Vientiane, Lao PDR - In observance of Buwan ng Wika, the Philippine Embassy in Laos invited Life After Breakfast (LAB) artist/designer Alessandra Lanot to do a watercolor workshop for the Filipino community.
The Philippine Embassy chose four national symbols in honor of Buwan ng Wika: narra, ang pambansang puno; sampaguita, ang pambansang bulaklak; anahaw, ang pambansang dahon; and mangga, ang pambansang prutas. These were then drawn and reproduced by Ms. Lanot.
Equipped with LAB watercolor kits, over a dozen participants painted the national symbols using watercolor as medium, under the guidance of Alessandra who taught the workshop in Filipino.
“We thought of this activity to tap into the creative talents of our community here in Laos, but also to allow ourselves to relax during COVID-19”, Chargé d’affaires, a.i. Rapunzel Acop said.
At the end of the workshop, Alessandra donated her four watercolors to the Philippine Embassy in Laos.
Life After Breakfast is a creative studio that promotes everyday creativity through watercolored pattern designs, handmade art tools and creative workshops. It was founded by Ms. Lanot in 2011.END
